Free Lunch and Learn: Unmasking Harm OCD with Erin Northey
In honor of OCD Awareness Week 2025 (October 12–18), I am pleased to announce a special free Lunch and Learn event taking place on October 14th. I will be hosting Erin Northey, an OCD lived experience advocate and author of How I Thought I Might Kill My Husband, for a candid and insightful conversation about navigating harm OCD—one of the most misunderstood forms of OCD.
This session titled "Unmasking Harm OCD: A Journey from Intrusive Unwanted Thoughts to Healing" will include:
An introduction by me outlining harm OCD and the OCD cycle
A 35-minute interview with Erin where she shares her personal story, challenges, and the role of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy in her recovery
A 15-minute Q&A session to engage with attendees and provide practical advice (moderated by the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta)
This event is free for PAA members and offers one hour of continuing education credit for psychologists. It’s a unique opportunity to gain deeper understanding of harm OCD through the lived experience lens and expert insight.
If you are a psychologist or mental health professional in Alberta, I encourage you to register and join us for this meaningful conversation. Let’s come together during OCD Awareness Week to educate, connect, and reduce stigma around OCD.
